
Welcome to the official site of American Pride Squadron of Kissimmee, Florida, a unit of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) and the Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC). The American Pride Squadron comes together twice a month on the first and third saturday of each month. Through discipline, each cadet learns how to work together as one. Each cadet will also learn about "Honor" "Courage" and "Committment". While enjoying the benefits of the sea cadets all cadets must meet expectations and are required to maintain school grades at a satisfactory level. This youth program is a drug free and gang free environment.
Cadets in the Navy League are instructed by both Sea Cadet Officers and senior members of the Sea Cadets through classroom and applied instruction. They
are taught basic seamanship, military drill, and leadership They are also trained in nautical skills, water safety, signaling, swimming, first aid, and fire fighting. rticipate in a week long summer training held on Navy and Coast Guard bases. The week long program is for cadet orientation or it is also known
as "mini boot camp". For senior cadets they received advanced training. The NLCC boot camp provides intense training in military and naval subjects. The
advanced training provides training in leadership, boat safety, and other subjects to prepare them for advancement to the Sea Cadets.
The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is the only federally-sponsored nationwide youth association within the Department of Defense. The Naval Sea Cadet Corp is for young people between the ages of 13 through 18, while the Navy League Cadet Corp is available for young people from 11 through 14.
The basic objectives of both programs are:
(1) to help young Americans become more patriotic and responsible citizens.
(2) to help young Americans understand the role of the maritime services in national defense and in maintaining the economic viability of our nation.
There are over 300 Sea Cadet units throughout the nation including Puerto Rico and Guam with some 9500 members
Membership in the Sea Cadets allows teenagers to sample military life with no obligation to join any branch of the armed forces. Should cadets decide to enlist in the Navy or Coast Guard, their training may allow them entry at an advance paygrade. The Naval Sea Cadet Corps affords equal opportunity for participation to all young Americans regardless of race, color, religion or sex.
The NSCC is a federally chartered 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, sponsored through the Navy League of the United States, and is supported by the Department of the Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. Official support of the USNSCC by the Navy is promulgated in OPNAVINST5760.5C. Commander, Naval Recruiting Command is responsible for coordinating the U.S. Navy's support of the NSCC.
